Quick list of ingredients for preparing Idlis:

South Indian Steamed Bread Mix:      1 Packet (250 g)

Grated Carrots:                                   Half Cup

Chopped Onion:                                  Half Cup

Green Chili:                                         One or two

Coriander leaves:                                Few sprigs

Salt:                                                     1 Pinch (To taste)

Baking Soda:                                       Half Teaspoon           

Edible Oil:                                           1/2 teaspoon

How can you prepare the Idlis from this premix?

  • Take 1 pack (250 g) of South Indian Steamed Bread Mix in a bowl.
  • Add 500 ml (slightly more than three tea cups) of water to the bowl and mix it well without forming lumps and rest the batter for 5 to 10 min. Add the chopped vegetables to the batter and mix well.
  • Grease the Idli mould with oil and pour the batter into it.
  • Place the mould in the steamer and steam the Idlis for 10-15 minutes.
  • Once the Idlis are cooked, remove them from the moulds and serve them hot with chutney.
